Why Leave a Legacy Gift?
We believe that all people should have access to the Gospel, and giving all of our high-quality resources away for free ensures that there are no barriers for people hearing the Good News of Jesus – not just today, but for future generations!
Alpha Canada relies on thoughtfully planned gifts as part of the foundation of our work. The Canadian tax system encourages charitable giving by granting tax benefits to the donor.
Benefits of Becoming a Legacy Giver
There are a number of tax-efficient ways to create a future gift.
Your gift can be for any specific amount, percentage, or residue of your estate.
There are no extra out-of-pocket costs and your current income won’t be affected.
Ways to Give
1. Bequests (in your will)
Make Alpha Canada a beneficiary in your Will and know that your legacy will live on for generations. All it takes is a simple clause in your Will. A specific bequest designates a specific amount of cash or other assets. Below is an example:
“I give to Alpha Ministries Canada – #101 – 26 Fourth St, New Westminster, BC, V3L 5M4, the sum of $________ (or a description of the property or asset) for its charitable purposes.”
Alpha Ministries Canada makes it easy to donate securities by having made arrangements with a licensed broker, who will facilitate the donation of qualifying securities with no benefit to himself, thereby maximizing your donation even further.
Qualifying securities include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and shares acquired through the exercise of stock options. We are very happy to discuss your options at no obligation and with complete confidentiality at any time.
3. Life Insurance
Gifts of life insurance are a great way to make a substantial donation for the relatively low cost of the premium payments. You can donate a policy you already own, make Alpha Ministries Canada the beneficiary of a joint policy held with your spouse, or buy a new policy to donate.
4. Retirement Plans (RRSP, RRIF)
Retirement funds are among the most heavily taxed assets you own. Naming Alpha Ministries Canada as a beneficiary can be an effective way of creating a tax-smart estate plan.
