You Already Have Influence
What would it look like to use it with courage?
Applications open October 1

You Don’t Need To Wait
You don’t have to wait until you’re older to lead.
You don’t have to wait until you feel fully confident.
You don’t have to wait until someone gives you a title.
If you’re in Grade 10, you already influence your school – through your friendships, through your character, through the way you live your faith.
The question isn’t if you have influence. It’s how you’ll use it.
Hear SLC 2026 Alumni describe what SLC is in their own words!
What Is SLC?
The Student Leadership Collective (SLC) is a six month journey for Grade 10 students who want to grow in:
- Sharing the good news
- Leadership
- Faith
- Courage
It’s rooted in your local church and connects you with students across Canada who are choosing to lead where they are.

How It Works
SLC is built around a trio:
- You
- One other Grade 10 student from your school
- One mentor from your church
You won’t be figuring this out on your own.
Leadership grows when it’s shared.
But I…
Don’t Feel Ready.
That’s normal. Most students who join SLC don’t feel fully confident. You don’t need to be the loudest person in your youth group. You don’t need to be outgoing. You don’t need to have it all together. Courage grows when you take the next step!
Live In A Small Town.
You belong here. SLC isn’t just for big churches in big cities. Two students in a rural town can make a difference. Two students in a small youth group can start something meaningful. Two students anywhere can share the good news of Jesus.
Don’t count yourself out before you begin!

Frequently Asked Questions
What if we can’t find a second student yet?
That’s okay.
We encourage you to start the conversation early, but you don’t need everything perfectly lined up before beginning the application process.
Start by asking a friend: “Would you want to do this with me?”
If you’re still working on confirming your trio, you can still begin.
How much time does SLC require?
SLC is meaningful, but manageable.
You’ll participate by:
-
Connecting with your trio (your friend and your mentor)
-
Meeting with your pod (your trio plus a few more)
-
Joining an online session each month with everyone
-
Attending one in-person gathering over a weekend
-
Planning and running Alpha in your school
It’s designed to fit alongside school, sports, and youth ministry – not replace them.
What does running Alpha in school actually look like?
It means inviting friends into honest conversations about faith.
Alpha creates space for questions – no pressure, no perfect answers required.
You’ll receive training and support throughout the process.
Do I need to feel “ready” before applying?
No. Most students who join SLC don’t feel fully confident at the start.
Willingness matters more than confidence.
Can I apply if all trio details aren’t finalized?
Yes. You can begin the process while confirming your second student or mentor.
What happens after I complete SLC?
You won’t just grow personally.
You’ll return to your church and school with greater confidence, clarity, and courage.
