Alpha Ministries Canada is a national Christian non-profit organization with creative and highly motivated people who work together to serve the Church in Canada. We have a great opportunity for an individual to serve as the driving force behind our brand’s voice, crafting compelling copy tailored specifically for donor, church, and guest audiences. The Copywriting Specialist exists to plan and execute communications projects from copy development through to distribution, primarily across email and web channels.
This role reaches churches nationwide and the guests who explore life, faith, and meaning each year. Key objectives of this role involve working closely with the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications to execute communications strategies that serve thousands of churches across Canada. We are interested in a versatile writer who can seamlessly shift strategically to connect with different audiences, while maintaining a sharp focus on how your words perform by tracking engagement and measuring outcomes.
They will need to be a self-starter who identifies copy and content needs before being asked, and who takes real pride in the quality of their work. They would ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience) and have 3-5 years of progressive experience in communications or content roles. Experience writing for fundraising or donor audiences is a preferred asset. Active participation in a local church and a local Alpha is essential to your effectiveness.
What you get to do:
- Develop engaging, brand-aligned copy for web, email campaigns, print collateral, and events.
- Write and build email marketing campaigns in our email platform (ActiveCampaign), coordinating with the team on distribution.
- Contribute scripts and messaging to relevant video and photo storytelling projects.
- Coordinate and drive the creation and distribution of the annual Impact Report alongside internal stakeholders and design support.
- Collaborate closely with the Donor Development team to support ongoing engagement initiatives and build fluency in our donor communications landscape.
- Edit and proofread written content across the organization, serving as an editorial standard-bearer before communications go external.
- Proactively deepen fluency in Alpha Canada and Alpha International brand guidelines, becoming a trusted voice on brand-aligned writing.
Salary is competitive within the non-profit sector of our size, with a range of $55,000 to $65,000, and commensurate with experience. Benefits package included.
