In the hopelessness of prison, people are hungry for Jesus and the meaning only he can bring to life.

With a caring gift today, you can support our volunteers and help more inmates find meaning and belonging at Alpha.

No matter where you go in Canada, you’ll find people looking for a safe space to ask their big questions. They’re curious about exploring faith and Jesus. They want to connect with others.

You’ll find some of them at prisons and correctional facilities too. These can be places of hopelessness and depression—with people deeply hungry for Jesus and the meaning only he can bring to life.

That’s why volunteers like Wendy run Alpha at the Nova Institution for Women in Truro, Nova Scotia. And it’s the women she encounters who show her why it’s worth it. They often start very angry and very resistant to what Alpha has to offer, and yet… the peace and healing Jesus offers is evident in their changed perspectives over time.

“When I walk in, it’s never me. It’s the Holy Spirit,” says Wendy. “I bring him with me and he does the work. I just facilitate. I’m just there, but I’m his instrument.”

Can you join us and be an instrument of the Holy Spirit in prisons across Canada?

Alpha in prisons is a unique context that requires special training and program materials for facilitators—something we always want to be free and accessible. We need compassionate people like you to ensure volunteers like Wendy have all the support they need.

With your deep care, you can support our volunteers and help more inmates find belonging at Alpha. You can show them Jesus is the only one who can satisfy their hunger, offer forgiveness, and give real meaning to life both inside and out of prison.

A gift of $50, $100, or even $250 today would mean we can grow Alpha in more prisons across Canada.

Of 141 correctional institutions in Canada, Alpha is registered in close to 50 — and that number is growing! With you by our side, we can reach men, women, and young people in more of them than ever before.

Together, we can show inmates the present and future hope Jesus offers.
