Alpha for Youth
Reaching the next generation
Canada’s Christian youth community is shrinking like never before. Since 1984, the percentage of teens who call themselves Christian has been cut in half. We could not have anticipated the response to the Alpha Youth Film Series that launched in the Fall of 2013 followed by an updated Alpha Youth Series in 2017.
Since then, almost 217,549 teens in Canada have experienced the series. Also, in 2018 alone, there were approximately 466 student-led Alphas that took place across Canada. We are excited to see more teens wanting to run Alpha with and for their friends.

A proven means of parish renewal
Alpha is a tool for evangelization that is being used by thousands of Catholic parishes in over 70 countries around the world. Parishes in Canada have seen significant impact on their communities and a new enthusiasm for mission. New members of the parish, having come to faith during Alpha, frequently join parish activities and bring the freshness and joy of their encounter with Christ into the life of the parish.

Caring for inmates
The first Alpha for Prisons was started in 1995, and today 67% of Canadian prisons run Alpha. In Canada, the rate of re-offence drops significantly when released offenders have taken Alpha and connected with a local church community. For inmates, experiencing Alpha in prison not only helps transform their lives but it also renews their hope and helps prepare them to begin a new life outside prison doors.
